Privacy Policy

Creek Candle LLC ("Creek Candle", "we", "us") operates creekcandle.us. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or buy from this site, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have written it in plain language on purpose.

What we collect

• Order information — your name, shipping and billing address, email address, phone number if you provide one, and what you ordered. We need this to fulfil your order and to keep records for tax purposes.
• Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor. We receive a transaction confirmation and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store your full card number.
• Account information — if you create an account, your email address and order history.
• Usage information — pages visited, referring source, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type. Collected via cookies and analytics.
• Messages you send us — the contents of any email or contact form submission.

Why we collect it

• To process, pack and ship your order, and to handle returns and refunds.
• To send order confirmations and shipping updates. These are transactional and are not marketing.
• To send marketing emails, if and only if you opted in. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
• To detect fraud and prevent abuse of the store.
• To understand which pages are working, so we can fix the ones that are not.
• To meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who need it to do a specific job for us:

• Our payment processor, to take payment.
• Our shipping carriers and fulfilment partners, to deliver your order.
• Our email platform, to send order updates and, if you opted in, marketing.
• Our website host and analytics provider, to run the site.
• Professional advisers, or authorities, where the law requires it.

Cookies

We use cookies for the shopping cart and checkout, to keep you signed in if you have an account, and to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the cart and checkout will not work correctly without the essential ones.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form.

Your rights

If you are in California, the European Economic Area, the UK, or a jurisdiction with a similar law, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of marketing at any time.

Email privacy@creekcandle.us and we will respond within 30 days. We will ask you to verify your identity before we act, and we will not discriminate against you for asking. Note that we cannot delete records we are legally required to keep, such as tax records.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Account passwords are stored only as salted, hashed values — we cannot read them. Payment data is handled by a PCI-DSS compliant processor. No system is perfect; if we ever suffer a breach that affects you, we will tell you.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email.
